Derek has over 10 years of teaching and developing curricula. He has his M.A. from NYU's Steinhardt School of Culture, Development, and Human Development and his B.F.A. from Roosevelt University.

Specialties include:

Devising & Movement.

Verbatim Theater.

Solo Performance.

Greek Theatre.

Methodologies: Hagen, Meisner, Boal, Swados, Adler, Strausberg. Stanislavski.

Physical Theatre (Commedia dell'arte.)

Working with high school - college level.

DIRECTOR

Derek's passion for storytelling centers around the youth experience. His passion for TYA theatre is to provide young people with an experience both on and offstage where they can see themselves reflected on stage. His work doesn't shy away from life's perils but always finds a way to find joy.

His favorite work is highly collaborative, ensemble-based, new, or original work that helps educate, enrich, and enhance whoever is participating.

Derek's aesthetic is pieces that have a movement like Frantic Assembly Theatre, the autonomy, and the wackiness of late 90's Nickelodeon, with a CW Prep School vibe.

With a unique understanding of the admissions process, Derek is your best choice when it comes to auditioning for schools! Are you ready to take your acting career to the next level? Derek also offers career coaching and guidance in industry knowledge and procedure.

Coaching is available virtually and in person.

My goals are to:

Connect the actor with their material that showcases their unique individuality.
Instill self-confidence and discipline.
Provide techniques specific to each actor.
